‘We commissioned Tommy to complete a very unique art piece for our new home. The piece needed to be a hidden door. Tommy's ideas and guidance gave us the confidence to let his 'creative juices' flow! We were and still are ecstatic with the final result!’

Esprit was commissioned as a highly integrated architectural artwork designed to function simultaneously as a feature piece and a concealed architectural element. Created for a landmark residential project in the Turner area, the work transforms a hidden doorway into a moment of discovery, revealing itself progressively as occupants move upward through the building and arrive at the main living level.

Engineered as a split composition spanning a pivoting door and a fixed overhead panel, the artwork was carefully aligned to read as a unified whole whether in motion or at rest. Supported by an integrated ceiling lighting system, with full-spectrum and ultraviolet capability, Esprit introduces a performative dimension that extends beyond the wall plane. The project demonstrates how art, architecture and light can merge to redefine functional elements as immersive, spatial experiences.
