Odyssey is a monolithic, six-metre-tall back-lit public artwork conceived as a large-scale architectural art system and is widely regarded as one of the largest back-lit artworks realised in Australia. Designed to be visible from the street, the work operates as a luminous landmark—using scale, light and presence to anchor its surroundings and signal a new typology of public art that merges architecture, technology and experience.

Delivered through a multidisciplinary collaboration with Exempla Group, Turco and Associates and LIFX, Odyssey integrates a purpose-engineered lighting system adapted specifically for architectural scale. Installed with the methodologies of a major building element rather than a conventional artwork, the project stands as a future-facing reference point in my practice—demonstrating how light-driven, monolithic works can create the sense of awe, wonder and visual impact at dramatic scale.
